My girlfriend is looking for a new SLK 200 with AMG body kit. Does anybody know roughly how long the waiting list would be for such a car? I am guessing that at this time of year, a discount is quite difficult to negotiate, but I would welcome peoples views and experience.

Many thanks.

In February this year I was quoted three months for a SLK350 to my spec. If I was not choosy about exact spec. there were vehicles currently available for immediate delivery.

I was also immediately offered 3% discount. However the salesman stated that this was based on the fact that it was a 350 and quite highly specced.

Pity he never re-contacted me with a build date..........

When I first enquired about this vehicle 12 months ago I was told that the waiting list for the 350 was shorter than the 200. I would imagine that things will still be relative to this.

Thanks for your response. I think she is probably going to drop the AMG kit as this adds a lot to the price. Hopefully we should then be able to find a few around.

I was initially going to buy new. But whilst waiting for the phone call from the dealer, which never came! I spotted a nearly new car with only 2k on the clock and saved myself £8k!!

When I was deciding on spec. for the new one I ruled out the AMG kit as I considered it rather pricey. The one I ended up buying has the AMG kit & wheels.

Having had it, I have now changed my opinion and should I ever buy a new one I would not hesitate to spec. the AMG kit.

It's subtle, but gives the car a more aggressive stance.

If I was buying it, it would have AMG kit and wheels, but I am not sure the girlfriend is that bothered which makes the high price quite painful to swallow!

My girlfriend is in the exact same situation except she wants the 280. There is a company called arjun auto who are offering a good deal. Basic 200 from £25k new plus you can order all the extras from the factory. I think the turnaround is about 6 wks.
