A mate of mine has just bought an '02 Mercedes A class and would like some wheels for it. What options are available for him, I suggested wheels off a bigger merc like AMG or the such like.

Which ones can he put on in terms of size and will make the car more desirable for resale and looks. Are there any that are a definate no no. etc

Thanks in advance

Stick to A class rims,or you might have problems with the wheel offset on the rear axle. when AMG wheels are fitted the rear axle wheels are wider and only fit the rear.

A class has different off set to all the other rear wheel drive cars. Try Elite for some copy AMG style - cheaper than a dealer and made by the same wheel company. Don't buy 2nd hand - never know how much damage they may have sustained.

Didn't Mercedes Benz take a wheel company to court over imitating there range of wheel's,

They won the court case and had the other company's wheel's destroyed by order of the court on ground's of saftey.

Nah, there was a case where the dealer was relabelling the wheels as genuine AMG and charging list price on replicas. The copies are still available and are all EU approved. Merc justify the price by saying the quality is better, but be honest, would any company get away with selling sub-standard wheels? Trading standards would have pulled all the wheels of the shelf by now.

Was in all the Daily Newspaper's about 4 year's ago when I was working at a London M/B dealership.

Defo a wheel company not a wheel supplier.

I would pay Merc Prices for a set of AMG wheel's rather than some cheap copies.
If I owned a Merc.

Get the set that appear on the Mercedes A210 model. They also come on the C Class they arent too expensive i think just over £100 per rim .
