Mrs. WR has a six speed manual C class coupe, and yes, the foot handbrake does take a bit of getting used to, but after 3 or 4 days it isn't a problem, other than that highly recommended.....

There is a new Mercedes manual that is apparently a lot better than the old manual. It's in the SLK.. I'm not sure if it made it into the C-class though.

The mrs has a manual C class and the foot parking brake is a PITA but you can get used to it.

Not the best gearbox but not as rubbish as Mercs manual box reputation would suggest

Having spent 6 years selling the things - take everyone's advice. I would say that the latest face-lifted C Class box is OK, but if it's the older model, forget it. You will get used to the foot-brake, although hill starts are impossible without slipping the clutch. Trouble is I know loads of early one's were backed because the linkage was so crap that you could not engage 1st gear. Plus reverse was a pig....Oh, and at re-sell time no dealer will touch them unless they are £3K behind book.
I think there may be a common theme here.........wanna manual then buy a BMW.
