Check this out...
Brand new car with full options supplied by UK dealer. Delivered by truck to me just about 4 weeks ago with 5 miles on the clock. Weather was a bit poor so car was covered in road grime( after 1 hour trip ).
Car of this value should have been in covered transport, but there you go.
Delivery driver said you had better road test it to make sure it`s ok. First thing I did was to press the screen wash...empty. This I pointed out to the delivery driver.
Dirty marks on the inside of the door trim, finger prints on the dash, dirty marks inside of the wind screen. The interior had not been cleaned.
Large centre console won`t open.( pointed out )
Car drove fine on the short test.
Washed the car in the afternoon and found sticky residue all over it from the plastic shipping protection. This shows the car was not polished! They had not even blacked the tyres!
Large scratch on the out side of the drivers window 12" long.
Scratch on the rear bumper, lower plastic section right the way across, scatch marks above rear tail pipe and crome missing from the front grill by the `star`.
2/3 of the VIN plate sticker is missing!
I notice all of the faults over a period of the first 2 days. Car could not have had PDI`d. Took pictures and forwarded them to the dealer. The dealer said take it to your local MB agent and get them to report back. Took it in as requested and the dealer said take it back to your supplying agent. That was it from them...thanks!
Got back on to MB UK and they then said take it back again. This time the local agent did look at it, but scratched window, crome trim and bumper scatches not warrantee and `won`t be able to get VIN plate` replacement! Not a happy customer at this point!
Forward my concerns to MB UK.
Just had Mercedes UK`s letter in response of the above.

`We have fully investigated the matter, the car left the supplying dealer in perfect condition`. Telephoned MB UK this afternoon and as far as their concerned end of story. The VIN plate they`ll fix `somehow`, the rest of it... swivel!
What should have been a pleasent experience has turned into a night mare! What should I do next?
No way will I except this!

If you notified the dealership of the problems promptly I'd want the car "re"-PDI'd, any faults rectified and the car given a decent valet. With a courtesy car whilst this is carried out of course.

pi$$ poor performance.

Just a question, why didn't you pick the car up?

I have seen a Ferrari and a new Quattroporte being delvered (over 100 miles) uncovered so not unusual but not nice all the same.

Did`nt want the drive down or back from the dealer. Had cars like this before with no problems. If I had realised the condition of the car I would have rejected it. I just can not believe the way MB are dealing with it.
Had 2 X5`s before this M class and had nothing but great service. I`ve had Mercedes before and got nothing but poor service. Thought I`d try again but here we go....

Who is the supplying dealer?

I bought a 6 mth old Merc from MB Direct and they were very keen to deliver it (100 miles - 'no problem'). I said I'd pick it up - there were quite a few issues with it which left me with the impression that delivery is their preferred option so they can just dump the car and run.

Rather not say at the moment. Have thoughts of returning car and demanding money back. I`m going to seek legal advice first.
Friend of mine returned his SL due to continued problems. I know it`s different situation with mine but we`ll see.

I TAKE IT YOU BROUGHT THE CAR FROM AN IMPORTERS OR A NON MB DEALER AND THATS WHY THEY ARE NOT CARRYING OUT THE REPAIRS IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND 2ND I TAKE IT YOU DID SIGN FOR THE CONDITION OF THE CAR WHEN DELIVERED...WHY?

Agree. He bought it from an importer to save some sheckles, as there is no money off at his local dealer. Why else would it have come straight from the port like that? No MB dealer would have let a car go out like that. Come on own up. It's all gone quiet over there, it's all gone quiet over there.............

I have New ML (wife) and CLS AMG and the Mercedes handover is excellent, I had a small niggle with an air vent and it was sorted there and then - no questions asked. Can't praise the dealership enough and the sales guy is happy to chat whenever I drop in....

I've never heard of a car supplied by an official UK dealer which has not been PDI'ed. If it's not an official dealer then the problem lies with the dealer in the first instance.

I had some well iffy paint swirls on the back of my Caterham when it was delivered brand spanking 18 months ago.

Being northern filth they couldn't have been less helpful. I'm going to get a little man to repaint it eventually because I didn't realise pilchard ownership meant you had to be a bearded spanner monkey.

Still, at least it was delivered in a covered vehicle(!) but it had clearly been used by some sod down south for the Kent-Dakar rally.

Barstards.

Imported cars? You'll probably find one of Steffan Roeser's white socks lurking 'neath the heating element: this car has clearly been used for a spot of pre-delivery orf roading through the Black Forest.

Break oot the Zymol!

You don't have to name them Dean, but it wasn't a Franchised Mercedes Dealership was it ? Even our cleaner knows new cars come from the factory with no screen wash.

My car was supplied from an official UK dealer in Witham, Essex.
The car was dirty with road grime on delivery and so you could not see the true condition. I wrongly thought it would be perfect under the grime, how wrong I was.
On the delivery note, the driver put down about the centre console and screen wash. This was all I found in the first 5 minutes of owner ship! All other damage was hidden under the dirt.
Went to MB dealer today and priced the parts at £1,400 plus fitting.
We`re looking at about £1,000 labour on top.
New car £48k, with £2.500 damage at 5 delivery miles.Good old Mercedes, they sure know how to treat the customers!
They are basically saying I did all the damage. Is this what most people do after paying this kind of money for a car, including removing 2/3 of the VIN plate on the `B` pillar?

I'm sure he would be if you've spent £90k+ with him!

I *think* that's one of the dealers that MB own themselves.
