importing a 560SL

Having spent a highly productive sunday in front of US Ebay I've noticed some tidy 107 560SLs available, region of $10-12,000 which I guess is around £7k.

Other than putting up with LHD and getting rid of the huge girders bolted to the front and rear does anyone have any top tips/ horror stories? What are they worth over here?

There was a white 560SL (American Import)very recently on UK ebay. Just had a look and its not on there now.

Theres a company called GTR Sports Cars - www.gtrsportscars.com (The site is "Temporarily Unavailable" atm). They had a couple of 560SL's for sale. One was in Grey and up for £13,000. Somewhere like this would obviously save on importing yourself. They can be found in Europe - maybe try www.mobile.de European verions won't have the silly big bumpers and (IMO) stupid high level read brake light.

You can get them in Right Hand Drive, but in Australia. These have the European bumpers and lights, but will have KM/H speedos. Maybe have a look on www.carsales.com.au

Those old mercs are worth nothing in Australia, I know a guy with a shed full of old 450SELs and 6.9s that he picks up for well under £1K sometimes even under £500.

I find the valuations here are usually the most accurate around
