The Sat Nav on the Command system seems to have stopped reading the CD and does not function. Its in a 2002 E320 CDI. This is so annoying as its an expensive option and the garage says its at least £1800 to replace it. Have you had similar experience and is it common?

Thanks

If the recalls don't work and it is a new unit give these guys a call:
www.auto-technic.co.uk - they use only genuine new units and do installations for most of the dealers up and down the country, did a fab job on my CLK at a fraction of the cost of dealer rates.

Not sure what your unit is (and it's COMAND with one M).
Try searching for comand repair on www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=14

The dealer won't repair it, they will want to replace the whole unit, that's why it's so expensive. If it's just the drive, then someone should be able to repair it. The hardware cost of a CD drive is almost nothing nowadays. It could also be that there is dirt on the laser lens. You might try using one of the lens cleaning discs that you can buy.
