I spoke to DMS automotive who are quite reputed in the tuning game. They were given rave reviews after they fiddled with the ECU on a BMW 535D and they do a lot of tuning for the Porsche 996 Turbo. WIth regards to the SLK55 AMG they have an engine remap which takes the car to 399bhp and 397lb/ft of torque. Has anyone heard of this or can give opinions to it? The cost is £950 inclusive and they will come to your workplace to do the work. It is undetectable to dealers and they offer a lifetime warranty. Seems like good value if those figures are achievable. EVO gave a great review to the 535D.

Thanks.

Does that price include removing the speed limiter?

Yes, they remove the speed limiter as well. I think if you are a member of BMWland (which I am) you get a 25% discount if you get the work done at their premises and 10% if they come out to you. I'm sure a group buy could be sorted out if enough people were interested.

Any more on the group buy yet, this sounds good value for forty horses

Chaps my only worry about this ECU upgrade is the actual reality of their claims. 399bhp is a 39bhp jump for a normally aspirated engine. You could understand those gains with a turbo engine or with a supercharger. I would love to do a test of before and after to really see if the upgrade is worth it. Maybe if I can negotiate a decent price for say 4-5 cars, it may just be worth it purely for the removal of the speed limiter.

Any thoughts? I am happy to approach them but only if we all feel that we will get some decent gains.

DMS are a big player in the tuning game so should not be making false claims, your right though 40 bhp does sound a good gain, andyour also right it would probally be worth it just for the delimiter. However if we took 4-5 cars down we could see the results on the first car surely

for my E320CDI they quote:-

We take power and torque to 250 BHP and 604 Nm. Undetectable by Mercedes service and diagnostics equipment. Cost £795+vat. Can be carried out at your location. Fuel consumption improves by 5% to 7%. Car drives more like E500 when upgraded.

Seems a lot for a chip reprogramme to me? I would declare to insurers as well - this 'undetectable' stuff is fine for warranty BUT I dont actually believe it is so - depends how hard they look etc...

Best not mention that on a public internet forum you never know who might be reading it and you could ruin it for many

DMS are having a new rolling road fitted in two weeks, should be up and running in about a month, then we can talk figures. I do like the sound of 400 horse in my SLK and delimited.
