S430 advice please
Discussion
Hey guys, am new to the Merc forum and have done a search for this car but not alot comes up - other than jumjum who I hope will post here
I have been looking at E39 BMW's but have got an option from a friend on an X reg 430. I have no clue what to say other than I drove it and loved it and am now doing the sensible research for bits and bobs.
I think it may have been a limo spec as the rear seats were electrically adjustable as were the rear headrests - is this limo only spec?
The car has done 97k miles - alot but is only 1 owner and has a good history. Fuel economy I am not too fussed about as I have a 540 BMW at the moment. It seems to have just about every option under the sun and electric EVERYTHING! Is there any option I should make a "Must have"?
Other than that any tips on specific things to check or advice would be gratefully received.

Hi James
I've got one of these beasties, but an SWB version.
They're great, not too expensive to run, pretty reliable, some electrical gremlins. Mine's done 93k miles now & feels like it will do it all over again. Only things I would watch are that prices will inevitably take a tumble now the new model is out and that they are a bit of a class envy symbol - don't expect to get let out of side-roads that often.
Bonne Chance!

Hi James, glasses gives a tade price of £12000, real world say £10000, Sounds like your car has a good spec, which is all inportant, and, the must have option, is Sat Nav, or command as Merc say.Colours are inportant to,black or silver being the most popular. Check everything works, inc the a/c. Regards Mark.
Shameless bump in case anyone else wants to wade in
Prices seem to be around £13-15k almost regardless of engine or spec. I guess thats symptomatic of the model age and replacement being available.
Do I understand right that the Merc warranty is only good for 100k miles? If so are there any options for cars with longer legs than that or is it a case of finding a good independent for servicing etc.?
