Tonight I had some guy in 1999 W202 C240 Sport park next to me. It had the stanard Sport bodykit and interior trim. It was slightly modified with even lower suspension than the Sport trim and W210 17" E-Class Avantgaurd alloys. It also had an AMG bootlid badge. We started talking and he claims his C-Class is a special AMG car with a 3.7 Supercharged motor pushing 400bhp! I didnt have the heart to tell him no such car exists! The only thing to come close to this claim was the 440bhp-ish conversion done to the W203 C32 AMG by Brabus, where they bored out the motor to 3.7 litres.
Also I saw his car up for sale before he bought it, and it was like £4-£5,000, so definately not a special car.
Soooo tempted to line up with him at the lights and kick his ass in my "mere" 3.2 N/A E-Class coupe with "only" 220bhp

I feel sorry for the guy having to "big" himself up, or the fact he's been told this and believes it!
Made me laugh!

I've got a W202 C240 and they're not quick at all. It's MGF quick at best, and that's no compliment.

If he had a decent lump under there then fair play. I suppose you needed the traffic light GP to find out.

I'm gonna hold out for a C43 or C55 (LHD only). I love the W202 to death (seem so much more solid than the W203s) but it just needs some more poke.

Here's some hope for you domster...in W202 form, the C55 AMG, altho hyper rare, was made in RHD (special order only with a reported 7 RHD cars made). A silver one was recently for sale with 61k miles @ £19,995. There was another RHD C55 AMG in black used in a Mercedes Enthusiast article (I believe in the Dec. issue). A footnote read this example was for sale, too, altho I don't know the mileage or price.
C43's are obviously cheaper to buy and, I assume, run, and still rare when compared to the rest of the W202 'facelift' range.
Me, I'm a '124 man (waiting for an E36 AMG Coupe)
