Looking to change my car early next year currently have E39 M5

Please advise of

fors and againsts
running costs
what to look out for when buying
what spec you want on them
any niggles they may have etc

Hi Clive, have just sold my CL500 98 model with 75k on it, after 2 years of easy motoring, only did about 20k in that time but had no problems with it apart from:

Parking sensors packed up in October ( didnt fix them!! )
Exhaust started blowing at 65k renewed with stainless steel at wallet breaking cost!!
Rear blind had a mind of its own, would work one day but not the next.
Had it serviced by specialist only the once at cost of 1k

All in all was a very good car with a lot of presence for no money, only sold it as g/f found it too big to drive!! l/h/s bumper repairs got a bit expensive!! replaced it with C200!!
