ML55 v ML500

My local 4x4 dealer has an ML55 and a few ML 500's at about the same price (ML55 being about 1 year older). Clearly the ML55 is a bit special but I would be grateful for any views on either or both of these in terms of running costs, depreciation (around 2-3 years old), driving and performance.
