hi, does anyone know if there is a resovoir(sp?) under the bonnet for the automatic transmission fluid to be checked/topped up on the 230 Kompressor engine? any help greatly appreciated

Dealer check only.

There's a tube that run's up from the box normanly with a black plug.

Long dipstick goe's in to measure.

oh bugger i was hoping to avoid been ripped off just to check my transmission fluid

Where abouts are you may be able to bring a dipstick home you could borrow.

Must have it back mind we only got the one for checking autobox's.

You can buy a dipstick from the dealer for about £6.

The check is fairly easy, just need to do it while warm - a cold reading is meaningless.

If the fluid is black/burnt, it needs changing - despite what MB say about 'sealed for life' gearboxes (which is pap)

im in sw London/surrey , i will call my local Mercedes dealer on mondy and see about buying a dipstick.
