OMG! The Seat Leon Cupra diesel is bloody quick! Had one nail it off some lights next to me yesterday in my E320 Coupe - I didnt use the gears (left it in drive), so started off in 2nd and I was a fraction late getting off the mark - and i certainly wasnt beating him! I had to back off because my lane ran out! The road then came onto a dual carriageway. Again we were side by side and neither of us were getting away from the other! Very surprised! Its amazing how far diesel technology has come in recent years!

Heh yep you definitely got to stick it in '2' while stationary (so it starts in 1st and changes up to 2nd when it hits the redline) to be beating the new performance diesels!

Or you can modify the gearbox so it starts in 1st..

..Wait until you come up against a C320cdi at the lights....I got to get me one of those. Try 0-60 in 6. It's a DIESEL Auto for crying out loud.....

Yer I read about that! Almost matches the new C350 petrol! And both these new models seem to be able to match the old W202/W124 3.6 AMG's! Just kinda proves how much the standard engines have come along!

Note to self: invest in a 350 engine for my Coupe

Wait until you come up against an E320cdi doing a fair crack along the A14.

Had a good tussle with one a few weeks back - didn't need full kickdown to keep up but the thing certainly shifted well into 3 figures

I had a Golf GTTDi for a while (probably a similar donkey, if not the same) My mate has a V6 4-Motion Golf, and I have to say his was a good 20mph faster in a straight line flat out, but the oil burner was massively more torquey, and overtaking on the motorway going from 50-80 the derv would leave the petrol for dead.
