AndroidAuto added 2016 R231

I have spent a bit of time trying figure out how to add in AndroidAuto to my SL, which was in that awkward cross over point of having wired Car play, but not AA. Some say it can be added, other say it can't and it was about as clear as mud.
I eventually read about a plug in box of tricks that converts CarPlay into wireless AndroidAuto and was initially quite cynical, especially as it was only £25ish on eBay.
I was really surprised when it arrived as it actually works really well. I had heard it might lag, but its perfectly usable to me and it has been a bit of a game changer to be honest.
So, for anyone that has a pre July 2016 Mercedes that has wired CarPlay and wants AndroidAuto, the cheapest solution is the carlinkit 4.0. I suspect not many will be in this position, but if it helps anyone else solve the issue then it's worth me posting.
