3000 miles and the fronts are 62% worn on the inner edges. That's probably 5000 miles for a pair of tyres on a fairly ordinary car.

MB insist all is in order but I think there's more to it than meets the eye. An thoughts?

Tyres are Contactsport 6 which, honestly, I won't be sorry to lose as they are sooooo noisy. I mean Carrera 2 noisy, not just a bit loud.

A quick Google suggests this is about right for one of these. Ludicrous I know.

Did 18k in mine and only needed to replace tyres at around 16k miles. Maybe it's had a tougher life?

I have just had to do the fronts on my A45 at 10.5k.
5k seems excessive

How do you measure them as 62% worn?
Not being pedantic, I would like to know.

You measure the current tread depth, subtract the original depth then divide by the original depth x 100 = depth % loss.

3mm - 8 mm / 8mm x 100 = 62.5% (as an example)

That's 3000 from new including running in for 1500.

As said below, it's quite simple. More annoying is that it's only on the inside edges, outsides are 85%.

Tyre pressures are spot on as, allegedly, is the geometry.

Did you measure the depth when they were new and what depth are you calling fully worn ?
Again interested not pedantic .

My latest Michelin tyres came new at 6.8mm. I also have a new set of Kumho that are 6.5mm new . Black circles. Sticker tyres .

I would suggest the tracking is checked, we had an A35 for some time, wear was suggesting 16-18k miles from the tyres, with even wear across the tread. Also note that the tyre is likely to come with 7mm of tread, not 8mm.

When you encounter pad type road humps, do you 'straddle' the pads?
If so, that can result in premature wear and cuts on the (unseen) inner parts of the tyre tread.

I put either the nearside or offside wheels on top of the pad and then all the tyres pass over horizontal surfaces, not the sloping parts.

If you want quiet tyres, my experience of having various makes on the same Mercedes, is that Michelin Primacy 4 tyres are by far the quietest. There is now a Primacy 5. Hopefully as good, but I have not had a set of those yet.
When a car has a quiet cabin, then of course tyres created the dominant noise.
