From an email issued by the parent company Sandown, it would appear that the Mercedes-Benz franchise finished at that location on 1 May 2026.

M-B servicing will still be available.

I was surprised to read that email.

Shame as they've always been a good Merc dealer, at least they are still supplying parts and service.

Not sure what Mercedes Basingstoke is like, but Reading has a terrible reputation. A friend recently walked out of there such was the salesman's total indifference to dealing with him and a CLS he'd come to view.

The agency model was always going to lead to fewer dealers and disinterested sales people, it can create a real disconnect between the buyer and the brand (the reverse of what they think it does) because you get disinterested "advisors" handling the sale.

Yeah Sandown dropped Merc for Omoda. Smart move? Debatable. Service stays but sales are gone. Closest Merc dealers now are Reading or Swindon. Bit of a pain.

It is a real shame. I am fairly equidistant between Newbury and Basingstoke and after not being impressed with Newbury (for a previous part order for a friend last year) when I more recently needed some parts having bought an old Merc tried Newbury and they were excellent. I had need to get another part last month and on collection they had removed the cars from the showroom and were doing some of the interior changes and I asked a staff member about it. I have no plans to buy a car from a dealer but still sad to see a showroom go.

As an aside, for servicing the Merc' I use 'Fergies' in Thatcham and they are excellent (German make specialist) and do to main dealer spec/parts and have the best free coffee of any dealer I have been to before!
