Hi guys,

I own a 1995 C124 E320. The near side front wing has got a dreaded rust spot at the front of the wheel arch. As this is only very minor would you recommend:
a) replacing the wing
b) cutting out and replacing the arch OR
c) acid treating the arch

We also have a 1990 W124 230E. This suffered from rusty rear arches. They were far more severe, but had them acid treated. A year later the rust was back, so we're now replacing both rear wings.
Like I said the Coupe's rust is extremely minor, which hasnt even broken the paint as yet.

While I'm on the subject of cosmetics.....I've come across something on my coupe which I've never come across on any '124 before. There is extensive laquer peeling on the lower plastic panels of the off side door. Does anyone know about this, and any costs to to repair it? (By the way, there is no damage to the paint where it has peeled)

Any suggestions/comments on my questions would be much appreciated!

Darren,

I would think that if you intend to keep the car for a long time acid treatment is not the way to go.

Is there much difference in price between replacing the whole wing or patching it?

I'll have to get a quote for each. Long term ownership is the way forward - i only got the car in March/April. Lol! So i don't believe I will do the acid treatment route.

Thanks
