Hi all, I'm getting a random chirrup/beep from my AMG GTC every minute or so when the car is switched off (locked and unlocked).
Does anyone know what this could be? All doors, bonnet etc are closed and latched.
Does the alarm siren have its own internal battery that maybe on its way out? Or worse still does it mean my main battery is drained?

The car still starts on the button and I took it out for an hour on Saturday but still getting the chirrup.

Is it exactly a minute apart? It sounds like a warning for your alarm as your post suggests, have you checked the manual, low fob battery maybe? I have the GTS and a frustration I have with beeping comes from the parking sensors - all the fecking time!

Hidden air-tag low battery?

I had an identical issue many years ago on an Impreza WRX, almost drove me mad.

It eventually transpired that a dear friend had accessed the car and taped a domestic smoke detector with a dying battery into the boot wheelarch void.

Oh how we laughed.

I've not timed it yet but it feels about that, I'll do that tomorrow.
Def not the keyfob battery as that's new. Went out for a 100 mile drive today, got back and it's still doing it - is l if it were the battery is have thought that would have stopped it for a little bit?

With regards to your parking sensors - do they come on with nothing there? I had that on mine, required 2 new front sensors that were replaced for me under warranty

I hope not, but you've made me think and I'll look around tomorrow...

Think I can safely assume it's not an old smoke alarm though wink

Yep, they do work when parking but they also go off with nothing around, I just turn them off as soon as i start the car.

The alarm siren will have a battery backup within it but I don't think this is a function designed into them to for indicating an error.

Try and pin point and area that the noise is coming from and go from there.

It's the passenger side wing area and is spot on every minute.
I've just ordered a ctek in case it is battery drain, if that doesn't work then it'll an OBD reader and then garage

So its the siren itself then. Probably shagged and needs a new one

Mine failed on a 2005 C Class but MB widely use the same unit. I didn't look at it but usually the internal battery leaks. I didn't know it had failed - it just showed up on a StarDiagnose check, but I had had a couple of occasions when the car refused to lock using the fob, which may or may not have been related.

Indie told me many people just unplug them but a replacement was only around £100. It chirped on locking with the new one, but apparently that can be coded off.

Battery now fully charged and on a ctek, still beeping so looking more and more like the siren. I'll get it on an obd reader to check for any choices and go from there
