Bought a 2018 c63s Cabrio just before Christmas.

Pros. Great fun. Engine is magnificent. Quite practical and a manageable size.

Con’s. Ride is hard (though not as hard as the 640d I had before) and interior a is bit creaky.

Cheers nice to have an adult in the room. I’m weighing up if it’s special enough to be the weekend / summer treat car or too mainstream

Hopefully another adult response incoming... biglaugh

I know people who daily C63 and people who have a C63 as a third or fourth car. Same goes for the AMG GT and Conti GTs... I dont know anyone who dailys a Grandcabrio... take of that what you will!

The C63 is usable enough to drive everyday but the sound and drama of the AMGs is good enough to save for special occasions! Your SL is a big comfy GT style car, the most similar would be the Bentley. The C63 or AMG GT are much more muscle/sports cars than cruisers.

Are you looking at pre or post face-lift C63? In my opinion, the face-lift is better everyday due to the modern tech on the inside, the pre is slightly more raw due to the lack of it.

The AMG GT is more special than the C63 though, Id recommend looking at this recent thread for my thoughts on that comparison: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

The conti GT (2015) I tried on the other hand wasn't as special as I had hoped, material quality is maybe up a step but there are a lot of buttons that are familiar from other VW/Audi products. You will feel its weight as well, very like your SL. The Grandcabrio has even better exhaust sound but are apparently pretty tricky to run and extremely dated inside now.

Any questions let me know, I know the AMGs better than the others but happy to share my experiences!

You'll be bored within two weeks...

For around town it also won't feel any faster than your EQC.

I've had an SLK55 AMG for a couple of months and my EQC walks all over it for pace.

It’s my semi-daily (with an old Defender). Is it as special as a GTC or gran cabrio? No, but for something with a socking great V8, a Merc warranty, four seats and a useable boot, it’s pretty good. I have a vintage car in the garage which covers the “pure” driving bit.

There's a red AMG GT with 6,000 miles for about £55,000 on Auto Trader that was advertised for sale for much of 2024 ..

No, gen 3 so circa 2022/3 I think, as much as the brand spanker hybrid looks sensational, it’s a bit expensive!

No worries, happy to help!

An AMG GT is a truly special thing, but one you know is still reasonable to run and easy enough to use.

If you are trying to compare a Conti GT and an AMG GT, have a look at an S63 Coupe. In many ways it's the best of both worlds. (An S63 is likely the best car I've ever driven and one I'm trying to get into myself) You can get a cabrio version if prefered.
