E400 E-Class Convertible… advice sought
Discussion
Morning all,
I’m hoping to sell my BBR200 NC 3.5 this weekend, such a great car and I’ve really enjoyed my 3 years with it, however it’s time to move on. I’ve been looking at various cars and ideas such as running a classic as a daily but I’ve decided I still want a open top and I’ve had a SL and E-Class estate in the past so no stranger to the brand.
So wanting something as quick as the NC but more comfortable and with 4 seats I think the E-Cab would be a fine car for me. I’ve been looking at the E400 engine with a budget of about 14k. Initially I assumed I should get the 3.5 over the 3.0 but I’ve seen a few threads suggesting the 3.0 is the more reliable of the two. Autotrader has a couple of good looking cars in my budget and hope to view this week, so ant advice on maybe the not so obvious to look for would be highly appreciated. Also if anyone is running one how are they getting on?
I was going to get another LS430 and on You Tube there is masses of info on that car but very little on the E400. Thanks in advance.
Cheers Nick

I've just bought an 2016 e class cab, had it a week, so I'm very much in the learning phase, the only things I would check are the obvious ones like the hood operation, the TMPS sensors as the batteries can go flat after around 7-8 years meaning replacement, as one of mine failed after a day (amazing how they do that just after you buy it)
Overall I'm happy enough with the car however they don't like being hustled along a road, nice long cruiser but it's not sporty and doesn't like being hurried into a bend.
