2015 E Class - Intelligent Lighting System Inoperative
Discussion
As title, i noticed that the adaptive high beam assist wasn't coming on automatically at night.
Flicked through the dash menu only to see it says "intelligent lighting system inoperative" but i cannot find anything in the menu to reset?
Also, i have plugged in my Autel scanner - no codes present, headlamps both ok and if i go to the "multi function camera" it says calibrated.
Any ideas? I haven't used the car at night and many months ago it had a new windscreen at Autoglass. I'm hazarding a guess it might be a problem with the camera calibration on the replacement windscreen?

My best bet would be the auxilllary battery which is located under the boot floor trim. I also have a 2015 E Class and it did this when the battery was failing.
Also the "Hold" facility on the brakes stopped working, plus a few other things but cannot remember what they were.
Easy to change, just a 10 mm spanner, battery from here

I got Enduroline one for £50.99 including delivery next day with 3 year warranty

It may well be due to the new windscreen, however, it's worth checking that the car is set up for 'left side traffic' (assuming a RHD car) or similar wording in the relevant menu.
I've known several people whose car has been set up as 'right side traffic', thinking that was correct for RHD. ILS doesn't work if you switch it over.

Thanks. My stop start hasn't worked for quite a while and the aux battery is 9 years old so i guess a replacement is overdue. Its not thrown any fault codes though. Also the "Hold" facility on the brakes stopped working, plus a few other things but cannot remember what they were.

Thanks. Useful to knowI've known several people whose car has been set up as 'right side traffic', thinking that was correct for RHD. ILS doesn't work if you switch it over.
When my auxiliary battery failed in my 2014 e class it did not affect the ILS.
I did have a similar ILS inoperative message a couple of times and both times was when I had a severely misted windscreen, message went away as windscreen cleared. So my guess would be something windscreen related.

Many aftermarket windscreens (ie not OE) will cause issues. If the original windscreen was solar coated (heat reflective) and was replaced with a green tinted version (or vice versa) this too can cause issues, especially with rain and light sensors.
Not sure how much help this will be but I had something similar on my 2013 W204 C63 a few months back. There's a setting on mine for the main beam dipping to suit whether you're in a region that drives on the left or the right. Somehow this had gotten set to the wrong setting, changing it back solved the ILS warning.
Also worth double-checking all the bulbs are working correctly, this can also upset the ILS.

Thanks for all the replies. I checked the settings left / right hand traffic and it was peculiarly set to right hand traffic which is strange as i've never set this and have owned the car for quite a few years. The eco/stop/start button is also illuminated but never seems to activate in traffic. I checked the aux battery and it is showing 14.1v so not discharged.
Doesnt the intelligent lighting system have a camera at the top of the windscreen which looks at the oncoming traffic?
the fact you've had a new windscreen fitted recently and an error with the ILS id be taking a look at the camera and or windscreen and make sure its positioned correctly and can 'see' through the screen.
I suspect you will need someone with the correct mercedes star diagnostic software to nail down which component is at fault and whether the whoel thnig needs calibration.
