Parking sensors fault...any ideas folks?

Hi folks,
My parking sensors don't work. The car is a C class estate S reg.
The button on the dash shows a red light on, which means they are off, but when I press it to turn them on, the displays on the front of the dashboard light up, with the alert sounding.
After a while, they go off, and the red light appears. (turning them off again)

I have checked the fuse, that is fine, also the wiring seems fine (rear offside load space)

Just wondering if there is a way of resetting them.

I was disappointed not to get these on my used C Class, but I gather they are known to give trouble.
