Hi,

I wonder if someone on here may be able to shed some light on this.

My father in law has a mercedes GLA 2022, it's been having an intermittent message for the alarm which just clears itself [url]

He took it in to the dealer assuming it'll just be done under warranty however when they investigated they removed the interior light panel and found it had been messed about with, looks like a wire has been cut, there's also a loop wire on a connector and then a string connected to it, not sure where it goes. They won't cover it under warranty needless to say.

Any ideas what this could be? He bought it nearly new and it's only ever been in the dealer for a service and with Gatwick Meet & Greet, he thinks it may have started shortly after he returned from holiday.

If someone did do it, why would they? All very strange.

I'd say it's the "Meet and Greet" planning on pinching the car at a later date.

I suspect the Interior motion sensors and tow away protection may wire back through that unit.

Perhaps they know of a hack to deactivate the protection by pulling that plug. I bet that piece of string goes off somewhere accessible.

Glad I stopped using Meet and Greet, was it Gatwick M+G or a Private company?

Thanks for your response, that does sound plausible.

I'll have to find out from my father-in-law who he used. I use meet and greet all the time but will stop doing so, my car is old though.

Take it to an auto electrician and get them to sort it cheaper than MB will - even if just for peace of mind?

Sorry for delay in responding, back from summer hols etc.

The car is still with the dealer, they're having problems with software and waiting to hear back from the technicians in Germany.

They followed the string down to the front driver side wheel arch, so the intention was very clear. Shocked by it really.
