A feature probably called, Startle-you-tronic. - smile

It was quite a shock, when this happened to me.
We were not even at risk of hitting anything.
Fortunately, no vehicles were following at the time.

The brakes unexpectedly applied very heavily for perhaps about one second, then released.
One oncoming car on my right was stationary (blocked by a parked car) waiting for me to drive ahead and another car on my left was stationary, waiting to exit an oblique side turning.

Presumably my car's electronics must have decided, that my car was about to collide with one of those stationary cars.
There was no risk of any impact.

Obviously very helpful under certain circumstances, but quite startling when driving normally.
Have any of you experienced this feature in operation?

Following a recent software update, my car has twice decided to wrest the steering from my control. Lasted for fractions of a second on both occasions but I’m not sure in either case what caused it (so far as I can tell, all of the automatic lane assist features were off). Feels like we’ve regressed back to the days of a horse and cart, where the “horse” gets spooked by a random shadow and decides to bolt into a neighbouring field…

My car will occasionally do this when it thinks it sees an obstacle. A common one is a sweeping right hand bend near here with a row of houses on the outside. One house has a red reflector on the gate post which the car sometimes thinks is another car, just as we are about to pass it.
