R129... mystery water drip

I have a 98 SL320.

I noticed quite a nice water leak under the car today after driving for about 15 mins. I had parked up, and noticed the water when I returned a couple of hours later.

I drove home and looked underneath, and saw liquid dripping under the bulkhead area, right in the middle of the car, not to one side if that makes sense.

The water tank seems at normal levels, but it seems too much liquid for the air con drain. But maybe I am wrong, and I haven't noticed it before.

Can anyone confirm where the Airton drain is on an R129?

Mine dripped out by the gearbox, seemed to pick up some oily residue from the gearbox case enroute.

Feel, smell and taste are good indicators.

Oh perfect - thanks! That eases my mind a little. It was watery, but has a tinge of something else to it. Your explanation makes a lot of sense.
