When I start off from standstill in first gear the car only revs to 3k. I change to second gear and the same happens, 3k max, (haven't tried 3rd yet) have I got a problem? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks Rob.

I would say that yes you do have a problem.
Does it still stop at 3k rpm when it is warmed up?

Does it drive okay apart from the low rev limit?

Any codes recorded?

Hi Scrump. Yes, stops at 3k when warmed up. Drives perfect. Have not had a chance yet to floor it in all six gears. However the engine does rev to the limit when out of gear and stationery. Regards, Rob.

They do have a tendency to split turbo pipes to / from the intercooler - easy enough to check if you put your hand down the front of the engine bay / rad area around the pipes, if there is any split you will find oil deposits. The pipes should be clean but commonly split causing limp mode.

Other thought is how old is the fuel filter? Although this should put the engine light on if it’s blocked.

The turbo pipe on my E220 2212split internally ( delaminated) and the car would drive normally but as soon as I tried to accelerate it would die. The suction was causing the inner rubber lining to collpase and starve the engine but the outer kevlar ( or unicorn skin, whatever mad e it cost £200) cover kept it looking perfect ! Very easy fix but not cheap, by contrast the S211 pipe was about £20...
