New M Class Test Drive

Just had an email from our friendly Mercedes dealer, telling me their new ML demo cars have arrived. They have asked me if I would like a demonstration (with trade plates) prior to the cars being officially launched and registered on the 12the September.

As it looks as though I can't get rid of my C for a sensible amount of money I will certainly give the car a try.

Apparantly once registered I can take it out for 2 hours, which should be fun.

I went out in the ML320cdi today. IMHO the engine is a gem, smooth and quite with a rumble rather than a clatter. However - where's the promised quality interior? Hard plastic dash, flat door cards, two big grab handles where the gear lever should be (that's gone all BMW 7 series - column shift style.)
And this one has the bling bling chrome alloys which look puny in the monster arches. Oh, and it's £4000 more and you can't have 7 seats anymore (wait for the G Class - another £4000 no doubt). Call me a cynic. How am I supposed to sell these things? Balls, my boss is coming............
