Has anyone come across this?
Went to buy a car for my mum which was a hybrid GLE but only to be informed I had two options
Outright purchase or finance
Finance is fine by me but on the 400e ole model they were asking 9.9% even tho I can get finance from Santander for 8.4%
They informed me as well as my broker that I could not use independent finance. Is this even allowed? Is this a trading standards issue
Thanks

To be clear; this is a main dealer you're talking to? Not a broker or similar?

I can't see how independent finance is different to an outright purchase from their perspective. They just get a (metaphorical) cheque from the finance company, rather than you...?

The deal price to change will be contingent on taking dealer finance. Nothing to prevent you paying it off early with "cheaper" finance once the deal is done, but there may be limits eg you have to wait 30 days / make one payment.
