I have a 2009 S211 with xenon headlights. Can anyone with the same car (facelift) tell me if this beam pattern looks normal?

The headlights arent great and, long story short, I'm wondering if ive got headlights for driving on the continent fitted instead of UK ones?

Am I right in thinking that the facelift models dont have the lever in the headlight to switch to driving abroad mode?

Thanks

Sorry, should have explained!

This is a photo of the driver side headlight dipped beam shining into an MOT beam tester.

I would have expected the beam pattern to be flat the go up diagonally to the left something like:

\

But as you can see, mine is quite flat.

When shining at a wall they seem flat too and dont have the pronounced up kick to the left.

Is your car a facelift model and have you noticed what the beam pattern is like when shining at a wall?

Thanks

Hi Willber, I have an S211 2007 therefore facelift. You'd maybe be better sending a pic of your lights shining on a walk than the MOT pic. When my lights come on they auto adjust, well the passenger side does. Pretty sure on a wall it's higher that side too as you'd expect. On my country lanes it lights the hedge well.

If yours doesn't then would that not get picked up at MOT test or service? Coincidentally my driver's side bulb went last year and I replaced it with what seemed to be Halfords finest. However it's much yellower than the original despite also being xenon too. I was looking in Halfords yesterday at replacing both with something top of the range but couldn't decide what. Research continues on that front.

It does look like you have the continental pattern set - there is no "kick up".

I can change mine on the dasboard via the menu in the speedo - no lever on the lights.

Thanks both.

I'll get a picture next week of them shining against a wall. Will also try get it on diagnostic to see if its in tourist mode. They just dont seem great. As far as MOT is concerned it passed OK last year and has been on the beam tester again which really just measured the height and didn't check the beam pattern as such. I think it depends how high tech a beam tester they have...

I cant change them from the menu, think thats on 212 model onwards.
