Hello all,

Had an amber check engine pop up on a drive back from Carlisle. Tried resetting it but appeared again.

Scanned it and getting the error as per the pic below.
So it seems a sensor needs replaced.

I can’t find on google exactly where this is. I like to eyeball things before deciding to DIY it or take it to a garage.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any hints or pointers? Keep it simple, I’m a simple guy.

Thanks
Craig

The EGT sensor will be in the exhaust downpipe, between the turbocharger and the catalytic converter. A bit of Google searching suggests that you'll find that to the left of the engine block in your case, once you remove the engine cover but beyond that I'm not sure how accessible or otherwise that'll be.

One thing from my experience - EGT sensors can be a bd to remove as the repeated heat cycles can leave them seized pretty tight in the threads. Any competent, professional garage should be able to do it quickly and the parts don't tend to be very expensive so if you don't fancy DIYing it you shouldn't be out of pocket by too much.

Thanks for your reply.

So today, went for a drive and the code cleared itself!

Going to keep an eye on it. Taking your post I took the cover off and think I can see it but it looks like a potential b4llache.

Could be an intermittent issue I guess. I've had my C63 since early April, one day a few weeks back I left the house in the car and by the time I got to the bottom of the road it was running very rough, shook considerably with any load on the car, idled poorly, lit up the engine management light and had misfire codes for all cylinders on the passenger-side bank. I turned around and parked it up at home, did some research, took it out later on in the day - absolutely fine and (touch wood) never happened since...

If you get a moment take your engine cover off again and get a photo showing where the thing is - I or someone else may be able to suggest something which will help if it does come to having to replace it.
