hello piston heads
I've just purchased a Mercedes slk 2012 amg diesel
i have a get me home wheel with car can anyone tell me if i need different wheel nuts if i at to replace the alloys in case of having a puncture

If you look carefully in the wheel well in the boot then you should find that the wheel includes an appropriate set of wheel nuts for the spare wheel. Well I'm pretty sure my 2010 SLK does. My spare wheel is of the collapsible variety and comes with a electric pump to attach to 12v outlet to pump up the wheel.

thanks for your post my boot as the collapsible wheel the pump but no wheel nuts any idea of the size

The space saver wheel on my 2003 C-class says I need special nuts for it that I don't have. However, when I actually needed to use the spare, the main wheel nuts worked fine, so I'd be inclined to try fitting the space saver using the normal wheel nuts before buying any ones specifically for the space saver.

I have the previous model SLK (R171). The owner's manual stresses that you MUST use the shorter bolts provided with the space-saver wheel, or you may damage the brakes. That instruction is also repeated on the packet of shorter bolts included with the spare in the boot well.

If you have the owner's manual for your car, I recommend checking what it says there in the section about mounting the spare wheel. This is the relevant extract from the R171 manual :
