Mercedes 211 suspension noise?
Discussion
Hi,
I have a 2009 S211 E280 and it has just had:
New shocks
Springs
Control arms
tie rods
Upper ball joint
Lower right ball joint
There is still some suspension knock when going over small bumps at low speed. It can be felt through the left foot rest on the floor. It usually happens after i hold the car on the brakes in drive (using hold function) and then set off again slowly.
The only bit not replaced was the upper wishbone (just did ball joint) and the passenger side lower left ball joint (the one pressed into the upright) however, after prying there can be no movement felt in that ball joint, the other side had obvious play.
Has anyone got any ideas what to check? We have tightened the wheel bearings too as had some play.
Is it Common for the lower ball joints to make noise despite not showing any movement?
Thanks

My S211 doing similar the past while. A few weeks ago my mechanic drove it we heard nothing, quite frustrating. He put it up in the air. He took me around the suspension, all looked clean and proper. Removed a piece of loose undertray in case it was that.
Drove it home, ok again. Later that day worse than ever. I lifted bonnet and bounced front corner. Clunk, clunk. To me it was anti roll bar or bushings for it. However mechanic said they looked fine and besides they were replaced last year. When I took it back to show him the next week it was silent again LOLOL.
It seems to happen in mine after a bit of driving and particularly on slower speeds on pitted roads.
In a nutshell check roll bar bushings.
