It does't HAVE to be 5w/30, though the vast majority of approved 229.51 oils are 5w/30, as is MB's own-branded 229.51
(229.5 oil for petrol cars is generally 5w/40).
Approved list, if of any help, though there are others that 'meet' the spec without having been 'approved'.
