Morning All,

Thinking of buying either a W212 E63 or W205 C63 - either would be an estate thanks to recent addition of cocker spaniel no 2.

I currently drive an F82 M4 which I absolutely love but with practicalities will have to go.

My heart is saying get a low mileage W212 and get the full 5.5 litre bi turbo experience and join the 500bhp club. Head says get the newer and smaller engined W205 with more modern tech and nice bits like ambient lighting etc. W212 bit cheaper to buy but now quite old fashioned interior etc....

Car will be used for family and work duties and will do about 16k per annum. Fuel wont be cheap but I've got a V8 itch that needs scratching.

Just wondered if anyone had experience of both, thoughts, opinions etc...

Had the 4.0 W205 and the 5.5 in a X219 CLS SB, which is a W212 in a fancy dress.

Without a doubt I would pick the W212. The 5.5 is the most forgotten engine of modern AMG and it is excellent. The interior build quality of a W212 is far greater than the squeaky mess of early W205s. The seats are also better.

You can get retrofit Android Auto/Carplay for the W212 and I'm pretty sure it had ambient lighting.

Brilliant info. Thank you. I would love a CLS SB 63 but they are so rare and more expensive than the E63 estate.

Personally, if I don’t need the larger space I’ll go for the W205. The interior or the 212 just feels dated. If it weren’t for that, I would have got on instead of the W213 E53 that I current have and love.

I've had a W212 E350 and currently own a W205 C63. I'd take the latter all day long. The W212 feels dated inside and my W205 doesn't rattle. Our GLC of the same era however is terrible for it.

Over the past 4000 miles I've averaged 25mpg which the 5.5 could only touch on a run.
