Mercedes GLE Coupe Sound System

Hi,

I am after some honest advice purchased a GLE Coupe 2017 which doesn't have the Harman Kardon sound system upgrade. I have contacted a few car audio specialists have have been given very different information from each.

Is it possible to buy the Harman Kardon system off Ebay and get it fitted?

Can I just get all the speakers upgraded?

Will changing anything chase any potential problems?

So far been told it would cost £3000, also been told it is not possible and will damage the car, also been told Harman Kardon is crap and there are much better after market options?

A decent aftermarket system installed correctly with quality components will blow HK, Burmester or any other OEM installed system out of the park. The exception may be a Rolls Royce or similar ultra-luxe vehicles.


Find some drop in replacement speakers, and possibly a programmable DSP/Amp such as a Match-Up DSP.

Allwoods audio get good reviews and were helpful when I was going to go down this road… they offer turnkey systems for most Mercs.

Don’t bother with HK.
