I'm looking at buying a 2019 C43 estate but it only has one key. Is a main dealer my only option for a replacement key?

What sort of cost we talking about?

Any tips/ suggestions gratefully received.

I've used ReplacementMercedesKeys and CarKeySolutions for my last two Mercs.

Cheaper and quicker than a dealer plus you don't have all the faff of having to the dealer with your paperwork then having to go back two weeks later.

In both cases the keys look OEM. Depending on where you live you might get one or both to do a mobile visit.

Thanks for that.

I live near Portsmouth so I'll see if they have a local office.

What age were your cars. After 2014, it's almost certainly dealer only.

The latest was 2010. That's a pain if you have to go OEM for later cars. I hate the cost, time and hassle of doing it through MB. I did it once and vowed never again.

I couldn't find any independents who could supply/programme a key. Every one I spoke to said it was too new and that only the main dealers can provide replacements. Post 2014 was mentioned a couple of times.

i spoke to a number of Merc dealers and was quoted £400- 500. Fortunately the spare was found after we'd agreed a price to take the cost of a new key into consideration.

I'm now the new owner of a 2019 C43 with two keys!

Excellent result. Now you have a free £500 to spend any way you like.
