...or is it affecting other car manufacturers too?

There seems to be MANY Merc owners waiting months for a new NOX sensor, with potential engine damage a possibility as well as the car failing its MOT.

I'm planning on buying a 220d Merc (2021) soon, but am seriously concerned about this problem. In the event of a sensor problem, car may be off the road for months.

My Dad has a petrol C-class (2019) that has this problem at the moment and his Dealership has no idea when one will come in. None in Germany. They told him to avoid driving long distances.

Engine light n my 21 plate 2.2 Sprinter ( 19,000 Miles on the clock ), came on on Tuesday.

Called Mercedes assist out Wednesday morning who diagnosed a faulty rear NOX sensor. Tech had one on the van, fitted it, total job sorted in 30 minutes and all done under warranty. Would have been £700 apparently.

Said he was just off to do another one after me. I think the '21 Sprinter engines are common to the older 220d Mercs.

I have a 2017 C220d and I'm having the same issue with a NOx on backorder. It's been in multiple times for the same fault and finally went in a week ago, third time, for a new downstream sensor. The EML came back on 10 mins up the road, they assured me they'd replaced it wink but Breakdown confirmed it's the same sensor that's failed, so now I'll have to wait for however long for a replacement.

I'm also concerned about MOTs, further damaged, fuel economy and whatever else. I have the MB Extended Warranty so maybe it's their problem? hehe

I work at an MB Specialist, they are coming through a bit quicker now. Wait time is usually 1-2 weeks.

That's good news.

I really want another W205 2.0 turbo petrol but the last one had the Nox issue. Eventually I had to sell it cheap with the engine management light on because Mercedes couldn't even give me delivery date at the time and I couldn't be without the car indefinitely.

My dad had the same issue on his 2017 C200. Diagnosed at a local MB specialist June 2022, finally got the call in April 2023 to have it replaced.

Thankfully had another car to use but still rather frustrating.
