Car as been off road 2 months after I was driving up a hill and felt like I’d lost steering. Report INVESTIGATED REPORTED REAR SUSPENSION ARM INSECURE
FOUND REAR SUB FRAME HEAVILY CORRODED AND OR SUSPENSION
LOWER ARM MOUNTING BRACKET HAD SEPERATED FROM THE REAR
SUB FRAME
VEHICLE REQUIRES REAR SUB FRAME REPLACING. Mercedes fixed free of charge 😊 just drove it home and got a message ESP malfunction visit workshop. Could this be due to battery life?

What sort of Mercedes is it?

I know the W211 E-classes are very keen to throw their toys out when one of the two batteries gets a bit old. I had it happen and my dash lit up red with a warning that braking power was reduced. I replaced both (rather old and out of shape) batteries and never had another issue.

I would have thought more likely a loose plug after the rear subframe replacement.

Ours did something a bit bizarre and they were very good at sorting...

Is the steering wheel straight? If it's had a lot of suspensions work and/or a new subframe I imagine the geo needs doing in which case an ESP fault is very likely. The car thinks you're about to crash as nothing is straight.
Get the geo done and it should go away.
