I recently ordered a replacement sunroof seal from from MBZClassicParts for my W124 E280 Estate, but the part does not fit.

The supplied part is thicker than the original seal with the result that the sunroof will not slide back into the closed position when the seal is fitted.

In fact, when my mechanic attempted to close the sunroof after fitting the seal, the obstruction was such that it caused the mechanism to break.

I've complained to the supplier of the part, but I don't expect any joy, so I'm cheesed off to say the least.

The old seal was only missing a small section, and the mechanic has patched this, manually slid the sunroof back into the closed position, and thinks that it will keep the rain out, so I'm not desperate, although the improved weather means I'd really like to be able to open sunroof the way God intended.

The mechanic has left me with the broken piece of the part which is item #53 here so I'll try MercMan after the bank holiday, although I can't see the mechanism listed for sale on the website.

Hopefully MercMan can help but, just in case, does anyone have any tips on sourcing some or all of a new sunroof mechanism?

Have you tried Mercedes themselves? Sometimes they are on an extended leadtime, and you cannot cancel once they have been ordered.
