Hi, I'll soon be taking delivery of a 2006 SLK55 AMG smile to replace my previous TVR Chimaera.

I like being part of an owners club (whichever cars I own) and was wondering if anyone has any reviews / feedback on the Mercedes clubs available for a UK based SLK / AMG owner

As a former TVRCC member (the best car club I have been in so far) I'd prefer a club is friendly and sociable over one full than full of snobs or technical nerds!

Many thanks!

I think there is only one proper club; the rest are internet forums (quite possibly more active forums than the private club forum):

https://mercedes-benz-club.co.uk/

If you contact them and say you are considering joining, they will probably send you some information and a sample copy of the club magazine. There is a model register for the R170/R171 SLK (which isn't always the case) and events, plus there is also an Anglia (North) section (which again isn't always the case) which meets in the Wensum Golf and Country Club .

I joined the MB club as per previous posters. There's plenty of helpful advice to be had on the forums and it appears to have an active scene if that's your thing.

As stated this is a great place for tech info, meetings and general chat about all things MB, even has a separate forum for AMG's biggrin

The main advantage of the official Mercedes club is access to the Daimler Xentry system, which is the whole parts list and assembly diagrams. Well I assume it is still part of the membership, I've let my membership lapse.

Unfortunately Mercedes-Benz pulled the plug on offering Xentry access. Longer term members still have kind of Grandfather rights and can still use it, but for everyone else it's off the table. They say it's down to their servers not having suitable traffic capacity.

Thanks for the update, I'll have to remember that if I ever think of rejoining.

I've just renewed for another year, and hoping to get to a few events.

Thought such diagrams were widely available on the web anyway?

The diagram are not as readily available as say, BMW from my experience so far.

You can buy an offline copy of Xentry or if you have the tech know-how get a copy for nothing wink

I joined both forums (fora?) when I bought my first C43 (20 years ago....) but, over time, I settled for this one. Friendly bunch, lots of useful tech info, wider-ranging conversations.

They organise meet ups although I've never gone. I have met a few of the other members over the years when buying and selling wheels and cars and they were all decent folks.
