Nox sensor light on for 3 months but now gone out.
Discussion
As title. In November 2022 the engine management light came on on my 2015 C Class 220d estate with 23000 miles on the clock. The local MB garage diagnosed the cause as a failed Nox sensor. None available as all on back order. The light stayed on until this week when it went off and has stayed off.
Any ideas as to why this might be? Should I replace the nox sensor when, eventually, they become available? All suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks.

Such an annoyingly common fault. We have the same issue in the GLS (2018) approx £400 for the sensor which will inevitably fail again.
Friend of mine had the same issue on a c class, albeit a much older model. So it seems to be effecting the 350d and 220d engines at least. I've not cross checked part numbers but probably the same.
Access to the sensor is easy, but access to the controller seems trickier. That being said, I plan to remove it and clean it (some info on YouTube on this).
The fault seems to happen when it rains, oddly? Usually goes away but not always so sometimes needs resetting with an obd tool/app.
Very tempted to see if someone can code it out until sensors are back in stock at least.
