New x254 arrives in a couple weeks. It comes with Mercedes guard 360 vehicle protection plus which is some sort of built in tracker with stolen vehicle help. No idea if it's any good or not because they don't flipping put much info about it on their site.

Question is, is it worth putting a ghost 2 immobiliser or some other tracker on it? Even if I got the ghost I'd probably get the tag and keep it separately because the pin sequence seems like a right faff when you want to just get in the car and go.

I like the idea of a ghost, what I don't like is some chav going for the violent approach to get the code once they realise that's why they can't start the car. Or am I overthinking it?

Too much thought. Fit better security and worry less.

In almost 43 years of motoring I have just fitted my first Tracker , I hadn't even considered one but it was on an option sheet I got from the Aston Dealer so I went ahead . Like the man above says , its one worry less .

I had a tracker on my RS6. It got stolen, was recovered in a car park (obviously parked up for that reason) about 30 miles away 6 hours later.
They'd ripped half the interior trim out looking for it, obviously to no avail.

If it wasn't for the tracker I'd likely have never seen my car again and given the fact they drove many miles to prep my house for break in the day before, coming back that night a 3am to collect - I never wanted t back and sold it as soon as the car was returned from repair.

I can see the advantage in a tracker, especially for insurance but once gone it was tainted for me

thats painful. I loved my RS6 and didnt have a tracker as the insurance co didnt require it. Had the C7
RS6 from new. Im outside of 20mins drive rural from Brighton - where about did they come from to steal your RS6?
I wasnt worried about the RS6 being taken as such but it was a thought.
Had a E63Amg's and wasnt a worry at all -v- RS6 do AMG get taken as much?

Overthinking. It's just a car. You can go to many lengths to try and prevent someone from stealing your car, but if they want to steal it, they will.
