C200 Diesel estate - any owners on here?

Hi All
I am looking to replace my Freelander 2 which is not Bristol CAZ compliant with a C200 estate.
It ticks all my boxes in terms of spec but it's only a 1.6 liter Diesel with an auto (7 speed) box.
What are they like to live with?
I test drove one this morning and I thought it was fine, OK it's not going to set my pulse racing but the thought of 60+ mpg and £30/year road tax is quite appealing as a family bus.
Anyone got one and have any real life experience with the day to day ownership please?
It must be the smallest Diesel engine that MB make so is it best avoided, any advice gratefully received.
