MBRG got rid of their Manchester, Birmingham etc about 5 years ago. The initial impact was that sales people were falling over themselves to get sales - and deals were prevalent.
After a year, people started changing, dealerships closed and service became awful - but so is every other brand.
I actually think a Swedish brand might have a decent approach to quality- I have nothing to base that on apart from stereotypes. And whilst typing, I just remembered IKEA, which doesn't back this point up...

The question remains what exactly has been sold. There's often a difference between a "business" and its "premises".
For instance, some of the dealerships may be operating in buildings that are leased from a separate commercial landlord who is nothing to do with MB.
Or if, say, MB own the Brooklands site outright it's possible they could retain ownership of the land and grant a lease to Hedin enabling Hedin to operate the business.
In summary: more information needed.

They have only purchased the dealerships, nothing more. This was reported in the media some weeks ago. The Swedes see the UK car market as very cheap and want dealerships within certain areas. A competitive market with multi franchise dealerships being swallowed up by moneyed predators. A cheap pound makes the UK attractive. Watch out Pendragon etc.
I had my car serviced this week at Mercedes/Hedin at Brooklands.
Not a good experience. They are not accepting credit cards, debit cards or cheques. All payments must be made by open bank transfer. Quite a performance.
Plus a very grumpy man with a very limited grasp of English looking after the customer drop off point.
