Ive just sold up and thinking about a GTR, not having my eye on the ball for a few months but appreciating all prices have softened, any real world insight into pricing over the last 6 months or so?

Prices at MB Dealers have dropped a little overall since I purchased mine in February. It really depends on what you want in/on the car (buckets, carbon trim, ceramic brakes, track pack etc.) as these can have a small impact on pricing. When I was looking the cars with buckets and ceramic brakes had about a 5-7% premium over other similar aged and mileage cars and that appears to be the case still. The track pack cars have a scaffold roll cage in them and these are not to my taste but might be to yours.

I was also starting to see more facelift cars becoming available when I bought mine. These are the cars with the revised central tunnel that has touch type buttons replacing the milled knobs in the older cars. I thought the older interior looked better so settled on that option and was lucky enough to find my absolute perfect spec car at a specialist and bought it on the spot. I was hoping to get one from a main dealer to get the warranty but my car had a full history, recently serviced, new MOT and 4 brand new Cup 2's on it along with only 6,000 miles.

Overall similar aged cars to mine (March 2018) are now available at about £10K lower price wise to when I was looking so things are beginning to move downwards after a period of strong stability. The exception appears to be the Hell Green cars with low mileage and buckets, ceramics and at least one carbon pack. It might be because of the colour and associated rarity of it. One thing to remember about Hell Green is that there in no way to hide at all, my mates know where I am at all times biggrin

The two cars on the MB website at Bedford and Loughton will give you an idea of pricing levels currently, with the Loughton car being £7500 cheaper as it has very serious mileage on it for a GT-R

I suggest you go to a dealer with one in stock and take it out for a drive. The GT-R is a firm ride when just driving about town and might not feel comfortable to you. But, put it in Sports+ mode, settle back in the bucket seat and dab the loud pedal and the car completely changes and really comes alive. It takes a little while to get used to as it is a wide car compared to most but once you have confidence you can push on very quickly indeed. The brakes are unreal when you really stand on the pedal and I know the standard steel brakes are equally as stunning as my ceramics in road use so don't discount cars with these unless you are planning to do a lot of track days.

If you do decide you want one but can't find one in a colour/spec combination you want I can recommend Grant and James at GKirby Collection:

https://www.gkirby.com/

This is where I purchased my car from and they are absolutely genuine and can generally source what you want given a little lead time.

here in the netherlands and also Germany prices for the 2017-18 AMG GTR are still firm, although you see half of them now for say 6% cheaper and the other half asks still the same as in 2021/2022 for their 2017- and 18 cars.

I also like the first versions with the nice console switches, on the other hand the later version has a nicer steering wheel.

I do not know what else changed between say a 2018 model and a 2020 model GTR what they 'updated/changed'

I do wonder how many of the first version they made in total and how many from those in LHD/RHD

I also look at the GTC coupe, although they are a few kilo's more 40-50? forgot, and a bit less on power, but they also come with the rear wheel steering and wider body with nice aero things, no idea how much they do their job, but they look cool :-)

and ow, I also noticed those GTC coupe's are close to the GTR or some even the same price...

so... if say a GTC and a GTR would be the same in price I would choose the GTR, for me with the bucket seats and track-pack, not that I want to use it on track, but in time when it becomes on selling it (maybe) after some years, I think those will be the ones (if also low km) most looked for.

but the color... yes green looks nice and was expensive, but also many of those sold, I think solar yellow is more rare, or the red or blue and I guess there are some more interesting colors.

back at end 2019 you could buy a nice 2017-2018 GTR from 119k euro in Germany, I thought I wait till in 2020 then another 10-15k those will go down, but instead covidplandemic begun and the world upside down, instead of prices going further down they went that amount up and more...

So those GTR became way to expensive for me + Dutch BPM/Co2 tax per/gr on such cars.

so yes, they seemed to be loved, but lately I also see those from those top prices stay very long in the sale, so they will come down at some point as we already see in some ads

Thanks guys, very helpful.

I will touch base with the specilaist you mention, there are a couple for sale in the green and would take a look at the Scott Hardy one, but really firm on wanting the dinamica interior, the other one is 6k more and twice the miles, im not bothered so much about the mileage, but £ for £ the Scott Hardy one is the more attractive of course.

The green car at The Octane Collection is very nice and would certainly give me a hard choice against the Scott Hardy car. I have the dynamica interior with yellow stitching and it is a very nice touch and certainly adds to the feeling of owning something special.

I would approach the team at The Octane Collection as a serious buyer and see the car in person and chat to them. I'd then say I was going to look at the Scott Hardy car and see if they were prepared to lower their price. It is very late in the year and some places may just want a sale on their books to help their December figures.......if you don't ask you'll never know biggrin

One thing to look at is the tyres on the car. Make sure they are Cup 2's (preferably marked with the M0 OEM marker) and have good tread depth on them. These are c£1800 for a set of 4 fitted last time I looked and hence why I was pleased my car had new tyres on it with less than 100 miles on them. If the Octane car has very new tyres with lots of tread and they are willing to drop the price a little it may make the car attractive if the Scott Hardy car needs tyres.

Enjoy the search and remember once you've driven one of these you'll buy it rofl

Its a tricky one, the octane one isnt perfect to me, no performance alloys, quite a bit higher mileage than the sh one and a fair chunk more, sh one is as near perfect apart from the dinamica interior. Think i will hold fire for the right one.

Had a quick nose around the blue one at Bedford MB this morning whilst dropping mine off for a service.
It is immaculate and the colour is stunning, plus has the bucket seats. Top pricing at 118k but only has 3500 miles on the clock/

TBH I just had a quick glance smile They also haven't adjusted the price on the details board in the showroom.

GTR I think needs the above, especially if you are going to track it, which lets face it is what it's meant for.

Im very set on the exclusive dinamica more so, think it really lifts the interior, otherwise thats a big cockpit just in leather with no breaks to it.

Ive had my car a year and a bit now, and I love it ! Its got all the carbon packs on it which really looks great. As mentioned, tyres are expensive !

I initially fancied a hell green one but went off the idea as they are very 'obvious' on the road. I much prefer a more subtle darker colour.

When I bought mine it had 4k miles on it, and now has 12.4k miles on the clock. We've enjoyed trips up to Scotland, including Skye and Mull, and down to Devon too. I'm certainly enjoying it.

The power is immense, and the ceramic brakes are extremely efficient, but be aware that they need to be dried off after washing the car, otherwise they just don't work. Careful rapid on-off braking to dry them off immediately after washing sorts that out. Just be cautious.

My car does not have the internal roll cage and I didn't want it either, as we use the car for touring rather than track days. Ive also got the older style centre console dials too, and much prefer them to the updated versions.

Sport + is the place to be if you want to enjoy the engine noise and more exciting driving style.

Whichever car you pick, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

edit to add that Alexanders Prestige, of Borobridge, Yorkshire, currently have a Hell Green one in stock. 5200 miles, full MB service history etc. Great people to deal with and always have superb quality cars.

Thanks Bomb, constantly scanning the classifieds. I have seen the one you mention, looks great but no bucket seats or dinamica. I think i might be in for quite a wait for the right car, but will be worth it to get the right car for me.

After 4 fantastic Porsches I bought my 2018 GTR back in September 2021 and haven't regretted a single moment of my choice. Absolutely love the car and can't think anything is going to tempt me away anytime soon.
Spec wise I was very close to buying a green one but saw the light (and remembered my age!) and then found a mega spec low mileage magno (matt) silver car. Paid £122k which was strong money but sure it would be advertised by a dealer today for £122-£125k and would still sell quickly based on its high spec and desirability.
Tyres wise - I have the Cup2 but have considered the other MO rated option which is a Pirelli P Zero - primarily as much more usable all year round but also about half the price!
Good luck with your search!

I will definitely be going green, dont want a car like that to slide under the radar, despite my age smile

Green Hell Magno is my wifes favourite. Before I bought my white GTC I briefly looked at a green GTR - other half wanted me to buy it on colour alone but with a very large extension at that time in the planning (and currently half way through and over budget) I wanted to save the 30k it would have cost on top of the GTC.

Don't think any GTR carries any risk of sliding under a radar! I love the Green - just couldn't live with it.

Magno Silver is hardly discreet....

The interesting thing about Magno Silver is that like the Magno Green it looks so much better when a non MB dealer takes photos of it. For some reason MB dealers take dreadful photos of cars like these.

For clarity I was 57 when I bought my GT-R, but the wife thinks I have a much lower age mentally..........whatever that means rofl
