Hi all,

New to Mercedes ownership and having taken delivery of a 2919 model I noticed something I’ve not seen before. It looks like a plastic film fraying on all the window sills. Best described by looking at the following photo…has anyone seen this before? Is there a way of removing this? Thanks in advance

I’ve seen it before and I’ve just got over it because I’ve got a feeling it would be horribly expensive to replace that strip.

I saw it when a lot of algae had built up on that strip on a car that I didn’t use much. Maybe algae likes to eat plastic?

usually on the glass side it is velvety rather than hard plastic.

It’s on the outside.

Is the car a JLR product by any chance? I think it was on an L405 Range Rover I used to have, that I saw this.

Sorry, you also mentioned it was a Merc in your original post, and I forgot when I posted what I did.

I also have a Merc so maybe that’s where I saw it. It’s now been ‘put away’ so I can’t easily check.
