Mercedes Specialist in East Midlands?
Discussion
Hello All,
I’ve just bought a Mercedes B180 CDI (diesel) and was hoping someone could point me to a good Mercedes specialist in the East Midlands.
It really dies have to be a Merc specialist because this car is WEIRD!
You have to lower the engine on its hinge to access things like alternators etc. Really odd setup. Engine looks more like a water pump or coffee machine - never seen anything like it.
All advice warmly welcomed - thanks in advance.

Thanks MrC986!
What's your experience with MB Nottingham? Would you advise me to go there, or Mercland in Nuneaton?
Thanks again,
Stray
I can't comment on Mercland as I've not used them as yet although their online presence is impressive & people appear happy to travel some distance to them. What's your experience with MB Nottingham? Would you advise me to go there, or Mercland in Nuneaton?
Thanks again,

Certainly MB Nottingham run a professional setup with a level of service that mirrors a main dealer without the prices. They seem to service a wide range/age of cars (there was a SL63 AMG parked in the customer parking when I last went).
I've a CLS 350CDI and whilst it's not the newest of Mercedes cars the ability to maintain a decent service history gives me peace of mind given I do up to 25k miles a year. Not all independent garages have the relevant service diagnostic equipment for a Merc so it's important to bear that in mind and MB Notts also update the online service book that my car has.
MrC986, thanks again for this really detailed and thorough response. I’m very close to MB so will drop in for a chat on Friday.
My B180 isn’t the most glamorous car but she does 25k a year and needs to be reliable.
Non-MB mechanics wouldn’t know where to start with it. Engine has to be lowered on a hinge to change alternator and other ancillaries. And it looks nothing like a normal car engine - if you’d told me it was a hydraulic pump I’d believe you. What an odd thing it is!
Then you add the Star system and it becomes clear only MB mechanics need apply…
Thanks for your contributions!
