My brother has a W204 C350 on which one of the MAF sensor has developed a fault.

It appears MB no longer supply the sensor and its housing as a separate part. Instead you have to buy the entire unit for £500+ (exchange) which seems a bit wasteful!

Wondering if anyone has found a cheaper option to get a new or remanufactured sensor (with or without the housing) that's reliable?

Also, do they need calibration and can that be done as DIY or does it need MB tools?

The sensor is the one highlighted in green below....

My brother isn't impressed that he's going to have to hand over the perfectly working sensor as well as the faulty one....

We had a customer with the same issue, we couldn't find anything, he purchased a used one. Are you sure there are no other air leaks ?

I did wonder if it might be an air leak but apparently the local garage said it come up on the diagnostics.
I'll suggest he takes another look for leaks though....

Try something like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255062125951

There are other options available including the elements for £30ish per side if you are comfortable grinding off the existing sensors and screwing in a replacement.
