2013-ish onwards audio Upgrades - Subwoofer Drop-In?
Discussion
Currently rather disappointed by the Burmester system in my C205.
Chris Harris lauded the system, at least in the video of the C63 saloon at launch, but honestly... it's really quite poor to my ears and lacks deep bass.
After faffing with numerous settings and EQ setups I have seen that Match offer a plug and play subwoofer set that will replace the two Burmester 'subs' in the footwells - these are the Match Up W8MB-S4 8" at about £400 - supposedly they are plug and play and a direct swap.
Has anyone fitted any drop in subs? I'm wondering if they'll need a DSP fitting, again Match offer a 10 channel DSP, but this is about £1k!!
I know the quickest route to more bass is to probably chuck a subwoofer in the boot but I'm loathe to do that in this car really, I'd like it all to be hidden with minimal amount of work, I don't need a 12" ported sub and something of a couple hundred watts at most would suffice I reckon, so long as it's hidden.
Any thoughts?

Deaden the doors with Dynamat
Seal the speakers so it’s airtight.
That makes the huge difference.
Replacing the door speakers and the above may be all you need to do.
If you want to install aftermarket look at Focal too. You can also purchase OEM connectors so the original cabling and connectors remains intact.
Make sure you go to audio professionals that sell premium products and are well versed in such installations.
If they say you don’t need to seal / deaden just walk away - they’re not a serious and will likely want to sell you Kenwood 6x9s and a big bass box for the boot.
