Slow panoramic sunroof

Evening all,

We have a 2012 C250 with the panoramic roof and it's dreadfully slow. Lubricated with Wd-40 white lithium grease, initially its fast and smooth but literally a day or two later it opens slowly and struggles to close...meaning I have to grab it and tease it along. Any ideas as to a solution? Do the runners need cleaning? Is there a better lubricant? Is the motor on its way out?

Mercedes specify a lubricant called Gleitpaste for the sunroof runners, and nothing else seems to work as well or last. You can buy a lifetime supply tub from the dealer - probably £80 or £90 now - although smaller amounts are sold on eBay.

Once a year I clean out the rails on the pano roof as much as I can and where I can reach into.
I’ve used white lithium on the moving parts and removed any excess with a cotton bud/cloth.
Never had any problems with the roof operation doing this
